Panamérica se despidió del Mundial Femenino – DEN 2015 – Panamerica said goodbye to the Women’s WC

Los equipos de Panamérica terminaron su participación en el Mundial Adulto Femenino de Dinamarca, mientras que el torneo entra en su etapa de cuartos de final.

Brasil fue el único en avanzar tras la primera ronda, pero terminó jugando un partido menos que el resto. En octavos de final, las brasileñas cayeron con Rumania para terminar en la décima colocación.

Ya por la Copa Presidente, Argentina no pudo en el último encuentro ante China y terminó con el decimo octavo lugar, lo que representó su mejor colocación histórica. Puerto Rico, que ya había ganado su primer partido en su primer Mundial, finalizó vigésimo tras perder con Japón. Por último, Cuba le ganó a Congo para evitar el último lugar y finalizar penúltima.

Los cruces de cuartos de final quedaron conformados de la siguiente manera: Países Bajos-Francia, Polonia-Rusia, Noruega-Montenegro y Dinamarca-Rumania.

The teams from Panamerica ended their participation at the Women’s Senior World Championshi when the tournament enters the Quarterfinals stage.

Brazil was the only one to advance from the first round, but ended playing one match less. In the Eight finals, the Brazilian girls lost against Roumania to finish in the tenth spot.

The President’s Cup had Argentina trailing against China to arrive twenty eighth, the best performance for the Argentinians in World Championships. Puerto Rico, that won their firts match ever in their first WC participation, reached twentieth place after losing against Japan. Finally, Cuba beat Congo to avoid last spot.

The Quarterfinals have this matches: Netherlands-France, Poland-Russia, Norway-Montenegro and Denmark-Roumania.

Finalizó la primera fase del Mundial Adulto Femenino y los representantes de Panamérica ya tienen definidos sus rivales en la próxima etapa.

Brasil, defensor del título del mundo, ganó el Grupo C y enfrentará a Rumania en octavos de final. Tras un arranque con empate ante Corea del Sur, las brasileñas ganaron todos sus partidos y se quedaron con su zona.

La Copa Presidente tendrá a los otros tres equipos de nuestro continente: Argentina, Puerto Rico y Cuba. Argentinas y puertorriqueñas se enfrentarán entre sí por uno de los cruces en la definición de los puestos decimoséptimo al vigésimo. Cuba, por su parte, tendrá un duro choque con Túnez definiendo las colocaciones vigésimoprimera a vigésimocuarta.

La jornada de sábado será de descanso, para que la actividad vuelva el domingo y lunes.

The firts stage of the Women’s Senior World Championship ended and the representatives of Panamerica already know their rivals for the next stage.

Brazil, world title holder, won Group C and will face Roumania in the eight finals. After a tie against South Korea, the Brazilian team won all their matches and earned first place in their group.

President’s Cup will have the other three teams from our Continent: Argentina, Puerto Rico and Cuba. Argentinians and Puertorricans will clash against each other in the definition of places 17th to 20th. Cuba will face Tunisia trying to reach 21st place.

Saturday will be a rest day and action will return on Sunday and Monday.

México: Fallece Gheorghe Gruia | Mexico: Gheorghe Gruia dies

El rumano Gheorghe Gruia, doble campeón mundial con Rumanía en 1964 y 1970 y tercero en 1967, y bronce y máximo goleador en los Juegos Olímpicos de 1972, fallecio en Ciudad de México a los 75 años de edad. En 1992 fue designado por la IHF como el mejor jugador de todos los tiempos.

Procedente del atletismo (fue campeón juvenil de triple salto y jabalina) y del balonmano, Gruia debutó en el Steaua de Bucarest en 1961, con el que ganó ocho veces el campeonato rumano, y la Copa de Europa de 1968.

Se estableció en México en 1978, cuando el gobierno mexicano solicitó al rumano un técnico de alto nivel para desarrollar el deporte en su país. Antes, el gobierno de Ceaucescu le había impuesto como condición para permitirle dejar el país que abandonara el deporte, por lo que no pudo aprovechar las muchas ofertas que tuvo para jugar en el exterior.

Lateral derecho, de 1,92 metros, Una de sus anécdotas más famosas tuvo lugar en la Copa del Danubio de 1967 ante Checoslovaquia, que jugó con 40 grados de fiebre y tras un tratamiento del médico checoslovaco -no confiaba en el de su equipo-, que le avisó de que existía el riesgo de sufrir un ataque cardiaco. Anotó siete goles para asegurar el título de su equipo.

Roumanian Gheorghe Gruia, twice World Champion with Roumania in 1964 and 1970, and bronzce medalist at the 1972 Olympic Games, died in Mexico City at the age of 75. In 1992 he was elected by the IHF as the best player of all times.

After being an athlete (he was youth champion in triple jump an javelin), he started playing handball in Steaua Bucarest in 1961, where he won eight national championships and the European Cup in 1968.

He moved to Mexico in 1978 when the Mexican government asked for a Roumanian coach to develop handball in that country. In order to accept, Ceaucescu government forced him to abandon the sport in order to leave the country, so he had to turn down many offers from European teams.

Right back of 1.92 meters, he will be always remembered for playing with 40 degrees of temperature against Checoslovaquia and he scored seven goals to win Danubio Cup in 1967.

Presidente de la Federación Costarricense (FeCoBal) desde su fundación, en 1978, hasta 2008; Tesorero de la Federación Panamericana (PATHF) de 1987 a 1995 y Representante de la PATHF en la Federación Internacional (IHF); Hermann Brunner Fleischmann participó de la entrega de premios del pasado Torneo Centroamericano Adulto Masculino, que se adjudicara Guatemala.

Brunner, quien además es Presidente Honorario de la FeCoBal desde 2008, es uno de los precursores del handball en Costa Rica, donde promovió la creación de la Asociación de Balonmano de San José, contando con la colaboración de José Antonio Echeverría (QEPD). La misma dio pie al nacimiento de la División Mayor, donde destacan la Universidad de Costa Rica, Alemania 66, Tres Ríos, Instituto Tecnológico de Cosa Rica, el Liceo de Costa Rica y Colegio Metodista.

Con el interés que siempre lo caracterízó, Hermann Brunner promovió la participación de Costa Rica en varios eventos internacionales, desde Torneos Centroamericanos y del Caribe hasta Torneos Panamericanos.

Miguel Zaworotny (Director Ejecutivo PATHF), Rafael Sepúlveda Montalvo (Vicepresidente de Desarrollo PATHF), Carlos González Aldea (Presidente de la Comisión de Competencias PATHF) y Eduardo González Gómez (Miembro de la Comisión de Arbitros PATHF).

President of the Costa Rican Federation (FeCoBal) since its founding, in 1978, until 2008; Treasurer of the Panamerican Federation (PATHF) from 1987 until 1995 and PATHF Representative at the International Federation (IHF), Hermann Brunner Fleischmann participated in the trophy ceremony at the Men’s Senior Central American Championship won by Guatemala.

Brunner, who is also Honorary President of FeCoBal since 2008, is one of the handball’s fathers in Costar Rica, where we helped starting San Jose Handball Association, with the help of Jose Antonio Echeverria (+). That Association brought Major League, where teams like Universidad de Costa Rica, Alemania 66, Tres Rios, Instituto Tecnologico, Liceo de Costa Rica and Colegio Metodista played.

With his usual interest, Hermann Brunner promoted the participation of Costa Rica in several international events like Central American and Caribbean Championships and Panamerican Championships.

Comenzó el Mundial Adulto Femenino – DEN 2015 – Women’s Senior WC started

En Dinamarca dio inicio el Mundial Adulto Femenino con la participación de cuatro seleccionados de Panamérica: Argentina, Brasil, Cuba y Puerto Rico.

Las argentinas fueron las únicas en salir victoriosas en la primera jornada, gracias a su triunfo ante la República Democrática del Congo. El campeón del mundo reinante, Brasil, empató ante Corea del Sur en el mismo grupo que Argentina. Por su parte, Cuba hizo un gran papel ante Polonia para ser derrotada por cinco goles y, por último, Puerto Rico fue goleado por Rumania.

La jornada de domingo tendrá solamente a las cubanas en cancha ya que los grupos C y D tienen descanso. Las caribeñas se enfrentarán a China.

In Denmark began the Women’s Senior World Championship with the participation of four teams from Panamerica: Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Puerto Rico.

The Argentinian girls were the only to win during day 1 after beating Democratic Republic of Congo. The reigning World Champion, Brazil, tied against Soth Korea in the same group that Argentina. Cuba played a great match against Poland and lost only by five goals and, last, Puerto Rico was smashed by Roumania.

Sunday’s schedule will have only Cubans in court since groups C and D have rest day. The Caribbean girls will face China.
