El Exhibition Centre de Toronto (CAN) fue testigo de la clasificación olímpica de Argentina para un Juego Olímpico por primera vez en la historia de ese país. Además, las argentinas disputarán el pratido por la medalla dorada ante Brasil.
Sin mayores contratiempos, el equipo brasileño avanzó a la final de los Juegos Panamericanos 2015 tras imponerse 40:22 a Uruguay, con 8 goles de Fernanda Silva. Del lado de las uruguayas, Alejandra Scarrone también anotó 8 tantos.
En el último turno, Argentina aprovechó la chance que las propias uruguayas les dieron al ganarle a Cuba de ser olímpicas. En la semifinal ante México se impusieron por 27:16 para desatar el festejo por lograr el pasaje olímpico por primera vez para el handball femenino de Argentina. Nashely Jaramillo hizo 4 goles para las mexicanas, mientras que Manuela Pizzo anotó 7 para unas argentinas que tuvieron a Valentina Kogan como gran figura, con 18 atajadas.
En las semifinales del 5º al 8º lugar, Puerto Rico le ganó 36:34 a Chile y Cuba hizo lo propio 30:20 ante Canadá.
El viernes será momento de disputa de medallas con Brasil-Argentina definiendo la dorada y Uruguay-México por la de bronce.

The Brazilian team advanced to the 2015 Panamerican Games final match after beating Uruguay 40:22, with 8 goals by Fernanda Silva. On the Uruguayan side, Alejandra Scarrone also scored 8.
Last day’s match had Argentina taking advantage of the chance that Uruguay gave them after defeating Cuba to be Olympics. In the semifinal against Mexico, the Argentinians won 27:16 to start the celebration after earning the Olympic ticket for the first time for women’s handball in Argentina. Nashely Jaramillo scored 4 goals for the Mexicans and Manuela Pizzo added 7 for the Argentinans, that also had Valentina Kogan as MVP with 18 saves.
In the semifinales for places 5th to 8th, Puerto Rico defeated Chile 36:34 and Cuba did the same against Canada 30:20.
On friday will be medal action with Brazil-Argentina playing for gold and Uruguay-Mexico fighting for bronze.
